Bikers are a very close-knit group of people. Perhaps it is
due to the hours spent riding the roads with the wind in their
hair or perhaps it is the “us against them” attitude
that many early rebel bikers had. Regardless of how the bonds
began, it is a very strong one. Besides riding together, bikers
like to bond at biker parties.
If you have never been to a biker party, you can get a good
idea of what one would be like by watching the scenes in the
movie Mask, starring Cher and Sam Elliot. One scene shows the
bikers in a wooded area. There is music and a campfire burning
as bikers are drinking and exchanging stories. You can see the
camaraderie and friendship by the way the bikers greet each other
as new ones arrive at the party. Biker parties are never very
formal, but everyone who attends can be guaranteed of a raucous
good time. Another scene in the movie shows the bikers pulling
up to the house of Rocky (Cher’s character). Biker parties
can be loud not only because the music being played (always rock-n-roll
or heavy metal), but the sounds of the motorcycles, especially
if they are Harley Davidson motorcycles. However, biker parties
may vary depending on the age of the bikers, the type of bikes
they are driving, maybe even the area of the country in which
they are being held.
Biker parties can have a more rebellious and dark side than
shown in the movie. Many biker parties are riddled with drug
usage, even that was shown in Mask. One thing that was not shown
in the movie is nudity. Many biker parties include the woman,
sometimes referred to as biker chicks, taking off at least part
of their clothing, if not all. Because of activities like this,
in some people’s minds, biker parties have a bad connotation
attached to them.
