College Parties
College is a time for young people to gain knowledge, but it
is also a time for developing social skills. One of the best
ways for college students to interact with the opposite sex is
to attend college parties. College parties take on many different
forms, but most include social interaction such as dancing and
drinking.
Many colleges have a party right after the school year starts.
This is a great icebreaker to let the freshman get to know the
upperclassmen. Sometimes, if the weather is nice, the college
will sponsor what is known as a street party. That party is not
really held in the street, but in a cleared college parking lot.
There is usually music, dancing and kegs of beer. Sometimes,
attending this party is a requirement of the freshman orientation
class to get them out and mingling with other students. College
parties like this are especially good for commuter students who
do not have the closeness that is shared by students who live
in the dorm.
Fraternal organizations often throw great college parties and
these are a great way for students to meet others. Usually, the
first party held each season by the fraternities is an open party
in which everyone is invited. At that party, fraternity brothers
look over the crowd to see which individuals they want to ask
to join their fraternity. After the initial open party, the fraternity
closes the parties during their remaining rush season for people
they want to invite to join. These types of college parties are
a fun way to meet new people and learn more about a fraternity
and its members so you can pick one that is best suited for you.
There are also individual dorm college parties. These are usually
held at the spur of a moment by dorm friends who just want to
have a good time or blow off some steam after a stressful week.
While these do not attract a large crowd, they are still a good
way to meet people around you in your dorm.
